The Newburyport Chess Club is one of the longest-running chess clubs in Massachusetts. We provide a friendly-but-competitive, handicap-accessible site environment, easily reached from greater Boston, New Hampshire, and southern Maine. The club holds rated tournaments and casual play weekly, meeting Monday nights, opening at 6:30 PM.  Tournaments typically run monthly, starting on the first week of every month and ending on the last week. Members range from Beginners to Masters, providing challenge for all levels of players. All comers are welcome.

10/27/2026 update --

The club championship starts next week! For the eight qualifiers, be prepared to play two games per night at a g40 +10 time control. For those who did not qualify, there will be two tournaments, one in November and the other extending into December, that will be played at our customary g75 +30 time control.

I'm pleased to confirm that NM Geoff Collins will be giving his annual simul for the club on November 23rd. Let's make it tough on him!
